RHS Fruit Tree specialist Jim Arbury will talk about the care and pruning of fruit trees.
The talk will cover the care and pruning of fruit trees including apples, pears, and stone fruits. This will include bush and pyramid trees as well as trained trees such as cordons and espaliers. Jim Arbury will discuss formative pruning for young trees as well as pruning more established trees. In addition, he will discuss the techniques used and merits of winter and summer pruning.

Jim Arbury is a RHS Horticultural Specialist covering the technical aspects of horticulture including instructing in propagation and pruning. He is experienced in all aspects of growing a wide range of hardy fruit from propagation to harvest. After studying Botany and Geography at Sheffield University, he started working at Wisley in 1982. For most of that time he has worked in the Fruit section. He has written articles and sections of books including the tree fruit section of the RHS Vegetable and Fruit Growing.

This lecture will be held online via Zoom and the link to the talk will be sent out to one week and 2 days prior to the event. This lecture will also be recorded and the recording link made available to all registered participants for one week after the talk.
