This was the family house of Christopher Lloyd who devoted his life to creating one of the most exciting experimental gardens of our time.
Now Fergus Garrett, head gardener, who was with Lloyd for many years, continues the legacy. He has a programme of lectures; each subject is taught with a reference to the garden at Great Dixter. He has started an innovative programme of no spraying whatsoever, making lots of new habitats for wildlife all combined with the wonderful Long border, exotic garden, ponds, wildflower meadow all carpeted with flowers. A tour of the house is included in our visit.
Light lunches e.g. quiches, wraps, sausage rolls, tea, coffee and cakes in a covered area which is open-sided. There are picnic tables around the car park.
Sandhurst & District Gardening Club will leave Sandhurst at 8.00 am and leave to return home at approx. 4.00 pm. COST: £28.00, payable in full by 20th May (club night).
