SHF Garden Visit 2019: Shamley Wood House
Event Date: June 9, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Event Organiser: Surrey Horticultural Federation£5
The Surrey Horticultural Federation is pleased to announce our summer garden visit to Shamley Wood Estate, by very kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Merriman
Sitting high on the North Downs, the garden enjoys beautiful views of the South Downs and is approached through a 10 acre deer park. Set within approximately 3 acres, there is a large pond and established rose garden. More recent additions include a stream, fire pits, dry garden, heather, vegetable garden and woodland walk. The garden has been extensively renovated by the owners, (though it is still a work in progress!).
The visit will be on Sunday the 9th June 2019, and there will be tea, coffee and cakes at the house (for a small donation to the NGS). The entry cost for the visit will be £5.
‘Shamley Wood House,’ Woodhill Lane, Shamley Green, GU5 0SP
Directions: From Shalford south of Guildford take the B2128 towards Cranleigh until you reach the crossroads in the centre of Shamley Green by the cricket pitch. Turn left into Woodhill Lane (towards Farley Green) then in less than a mile the road turns sharply to the right. You will see a sign ‘Shamley Wood Estate’ going straight ahead, up a steep private drive and through their main gate. Carry on to the top of the hill, past the house and park in the field marked.
